History of Wittmeier Auto Center

Ed Wittmeier, owner of Wittmeier Auto Center, started his career in the automotive industry in Sacramento after leaving Chico. Ed grew up on a family farm in Durham and is an alumnus of CSU, Chico. After leaving Sacramento, Ed returned to Chico to manage Tike Decious Ford.

From there, Ed became the owner of the Chico Ford franchise in 1978 and later added Lincoln and Mercury to the business. In 1984, Wittmeier Honda became part of the line-up at the dealership, which was then on Park Avenue. As the business grew, so did Ed’s vision for the future.

Construction of the new state of the art facility began and in June 1991 the project was completed to what we now know as Wittmeier Auto Center on Forest Avenue. From there, Ed acquired the Chevrolet franchise in 1992 and continued his vision for the future by creating a new building next to Ford and Honda to house Chevrolet.
